Functions - purpose
to have the ability to "bookmark" a particular website (url) so that you dont need to go looking for it again. you have the ability to set it as private so that only you can see it, or you can have it publicly so that everyone else can browse through your bookmarks.

It is run by yahoo. therefore having the ability to sign in with my yahoo account and not neccessarily making a new account.
search - delicious and other people's account
on their home page, they have three tabs at the top labelled "Fresh Bookmarks" these show the recent websites that people are bookmarking in their account. "Hotlist" which shows the most popular websites that people have bookmarked. the little blue box on the top right hand corner of each bookmark indicates how many people have bookmarked it using their account. and the last tab, "Explore Tags" which allows a person to easily look for bookmarks under a category that it is in. in ways, it is a huge database for browsing websites. On the left side of the page, there is the whole list called "Popular Tags" and again, make it easier for people to browse for their desired website. accross the very top on the page are tabs called "home" which is self explanatory, bringing the person to the home page of Delicious.com. "Bookmarks" which goes to my bookmarks as well as a drop down option that lead to "my bookmarks" "popular" "recent" "look up a url" which are all self explanatory. another tab across the top is "people" that have a drop down option of "my network" and "go to a user" it states "Your Network is an easy way to view all the bookmarks saved by interesting people, such as your friends, coworkers, and favorite bloggers. After you add them to your Network, this page will collect and display all their recent bookmarks for you to enjoy." yeah? yeah :) and the last tab at the top is "Tags" with a drop down option "my tags" "my subscriptions" and "explore" here you can go through the tags for the websites you have bookmarked or go through the other people's accounts in which are part of your "network" and browse through theirs. or you can explore. :)
